EU and environmentNew brochure “European Union: environment protection and renewable energy sources” published by civic forces in Horki.

Informational edition briefly and clearly describes the policy of our Western neighbors to counter global warming and climate changes, protect wild fauna and flora, to promote sun, wind and water as energy sources, and recycling of waste.

The brochure has the purpose to show Belarusians how energy problems of their country are close to problems of people in EU and how modern democratic states solve such kind of problems.

 
Newspapers keep silence

Official newspapers of Drybin and Mscislau haven’t published Jurkou’s plan which contains proposals to protect local people in case of deep economic crisis.

On the pages of the official Horki newspaper “Leninski Shlah” (Lenin’s way) reaction on the Jurkou’s plan appeared. Two readers of the newspaper sent their articles and expressed their own points of view on Jurkou’s proposals. Both letters are signed by local inhabitants.

Yesterday participants of a Horki antinuclear group and members of Movement “For Freedom” were collecting signatures against atomic power station in Mscislau (Mahilou province).
 
Jurkou’s plan

Newspaper of Horki officials “Leninski Shlah” (“Lenin’s way”) has published offers of Andrej Jurkou to defend local inhabitants during current crisis. The former MP Candidate stated his plan of joint actions for local authorities and civic activists. In his letter Mr.Jurkou determined four urgent steps to create “safety cushion” for the poorest layers of population and to prevent economic development from the worst scenario.
 
Freedom of speech

In Horki region there can be new newspapers. Popular local journalist Eduard Brokarau addressed to the local authorities to allow new periodicals on the territory of Horki, Drybin and Mscislau regions of Mahilou province. Such procedure is provided by the current Belarusian law. The founder of these editions will be a private firm “Uzgorak” belonging to Mr.Brokarau.

Young oppositionists still being expelled from universities

Alyaksei Zmushko, coordinator of organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy in Rechytsa, has been expelled from Agricultural Academy of Horki. The Charter'97 press center has learnt it from the youth activist.
