Horki district executive committee denies accreditation to independent outlet. For this reason, Eduard Brokarau (on the photo), the 'Uzgorak' newspaper editor and a Movement for Freedom (the MFF) activist, is preparing a complaint to the Mahiliou Region Executive Committee.
The members of the Movement for Freedom (the MFF) from Horki and Drybin towns paid tribute to the memory of Vojciech Damaracki, a student who died during the anti-Russian Empire Revolt of 1863.
The MFF Horki and Drybin members as well as other local activists laid flowers on the gravestone under which Damaracki – the hero of the Revolt of 1863 – was buried. His grave is located at the territory of the local academy. The commemoration took place on November 28 on the 89th anniversary of the Slutsk Revolt which Belarusians call the Heroes’ Day.
An upholder of Movement ‘For freedom’ Andrej Jurkou (on the photo) asked local ‘vertical’ to explain why in Drybin region new traffic signs are in Russian. He sent the written letter for this reason to the Drybin executive committee.
Upholders of Movement for Freedom from Horki and Drybin supported a civic campaign ‘Stop 193.1’. They sent deputies of National Assembly 60 postcards with request to change the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus establishes criminal responsibility for participation in the activities of an unregistered political party, foundation, civil or religious organization, and envisages two years of imprisonment for such activities.
Horki local administration has refused to accredit an editor of the independent newspaper ‘Uzgorak’ Eduard Brokarau (on the photo). In the answer signed by the head of Horki executive committee Mihail Anikeeu said that there were two accredited mass media in the region. They are an official newspaper ‘Leninski Shlyah’ (‘Way of Lenin’) and radio program ‘Holas Horackaha kraju’ (‘Voice of Horki’). Therefore there is no sense to accredit an additional newspaper.
